Car of the Month

This month's featured 1970 GTX is owned by Soren Matsson of Sweden. Originally EB5, now painted gloss black, this 440-4bbl automatic GTX made its way to Sweden way back in 1975.

This currently featured 1970 GTX has been owned by Soren Matsson of Sweden since 1999. Now painted a beautiful gloss black, the GTX originally was EB5 blue on the outside with a blue bucket seat interior when it first left New Jersey on its way to Sweden in1975. It is a 440-4bbl powered car with the standard heavy duty 727 automatic transmission and 8 3/4" rearend with 3.23 gears. Other factory options are the floor console, front power disc brakes, and air conditioning. When Soren purchased the GTX in 1999, a previous owner had repainted the car black. Currently the GTX has a black interior and a 1970 Satellite hood with a 1969 style fiberglass hood scoop. Soren shared with me that he bought an engine a number of years ago from the USA which gave him a best time of 11.2 seonds in 402 meters (1/4 mile). He later changed the cam shaft to make the car more driveable on the street. This change gave him a 6.89 second time in 201 meters (1/8 mile). One of the photos shows Soren ready to take the GTX down the race track while another shows a close up of the interior with Soren in the driver's seat. Soren says he really enjoys driving the GTX and has no plans to ever sell the car.
