This month's feature car is owned by Roy and Dee Garcia of Wisconsin. They own a triple black 1970 GTX with a 4 speed.
Roy writes: This is our 1970 GTX, which my wife and I bought in August of 1999. After not owning a GTX since 1976, we came across this black beauty one weekend while vacationing in Door County, Wisconsin. After a couple of phone calls with the owner, Dee and I decided it was time to get reacquainted with 1970's again.
The GTX is currently set up as a 6-pack car but originally was a 4 bbl. Althought it is not an original 6-pack car, I had always wanted to have one that was set up this way. It has the optional heavy duty hemi-4 speed transmission and a Dana 60 rearend with 3.54 gears. It was ordered with a black vinyl top, black interior with bucket seats and console. This GTX came with stock steel rims and "dogdish" hubcaps but now has Keystone wheels, with 60 series Goodyear tires. Other options ordered from the factory were hood pins, clock/tach setup, wood grain steering wheel, AM radio, and rear window defogger. It is an older restoration, but still is in excellent condition as it has always been garaged.
When we are out for a cruise, it still is a headturner. The 440 had it's block decked to .010 and cylinders bored out to .040. It currently has Edelbrock 88cc's aluminum heads and aluminum 6bbl. intake manifold. The air grabber hood scoop really sets the car off and lets people know that this is real Mopar muscle.
