Editor's note: The following is what Dave Kruszewski of Michigan has to say about his rare black with white bucket seat interior automatic 4bbl. GTX.
I work for DaimlerChrysler at the technical center in
Auburn Hills, Michigan. I finally decided to get the classic late 60’s or
early 70’s muscle car I had been thinking about for a long time. I found my 70
GTX in Illinois this past May. It was built at the old Lynch Road assembly plant
in Detroit. I have the build sheet and have begun the process of getting it back
to its original condition.
Under the hood it has a 440, 4 barrel, 727 auto with the
center console. The A36 performance axle package gave it the 8-3/4” rear with
3.55 gear, limited slip, 7 blade fan, 26” radiator and hemi suspension. It
also had the F25 heavy duty 70 amp battery. Power disk brakes, power steering
and N51 max cool package are also options. An N96 air grabber hood with the L31
hood mounted turn signal indicators top the engine bay.
Exterior color is TX9 velvet black with gold stripes (it
currently has white reflectives) and the interior is P6XW black & white. The
original G33 remote driver side mirror is still in place. The 15 x 7 rallye’s
with F60 x 15 raised white letter tires that it rolled of the assembly line with
have been replaced with black steel wheels and dog dishes, but I hope to have
the rallye’s back on by next summer. It rolls on an S31 rallye suspension.
Inside you’ll find the A01 light package, R22 am 8 track radio with the R31
rear seat speaker, S81 simulated wood rim steering wheel and H31 rear window
defroster fill out the interior.
I have a ways to go, but am enjoying learning about these great Plymouth B bodies and their great history. I took it to the 2002 Woodward Dream Cruise and it seemed that Chevelles, Camaros and GTOs where everywhere, but the real stars of the show where the Mopars. Being 1 of only 4927 made, it brought many great comments, double takes and brought back many good memories. (9-2-02)
