This month's feature GTX is one of a number of Canadian built 1970 GTXs.

Dave Grimmon of Ontario, Canada has been the one and only owner of this EF8 painted 440-4bbl automatic powered 1970 GTX since September 1970. Would you believe he has driven this GTX over 507,000 miles. That might be a world's record. Read below his story about this car.

.As of September 2007 I will have been the proud owner of a 1970 GTX for 37 years. Here in Ontario, Canada the 1970 GTX seems to be a very rare car, as in you do not see very many of them.

I bought the car new in September 1970 from Roblin Motors in Picton, Onatario, Canada. At the time I was 24 years old and single and within the first 3 years I put 126,000 miles on the car.

The car has survived a divorce, the energy crisis, 3 mortgages, rising insurance costs and 37 years of hard driving. My car has never been restored, but it has been maintained since day one. It has been painted 3 times and the engine (original) has been rebuilt twice, the last time being April 2003. The original tranny was replaced under warranty shortly after I purchased the car, and I replaced the 3:23 (open) rear end with a 3:91 (Detroit locker). When the engine was rebuilt, we upgraded it with performance parts such as Edelbrock heads, 509 purple shaft, pistons, ignition, etc. A B & M 3000 hole shot convertor and a 3 inch Flowmaster exhaust system were also installed.

The car was last winter driven in 1973 and has only been driven when there is no salt on the roads since. When I am not driving the car, my 26 year old son is.

As of right now there is 507,000 miles on the car and I think I can safely say that not very many people have sat in or driven a 1970 GTX as long and as far as I have, and I am not done yet!!

I greatly appreciate numbers matching survivors and restorations but I bought a car to drive and there is no greater thrill than driving a 1970 Plymouth GTX.
